Size and weight are big decision factors when you are trying to find the ideal camera for your needs.
In this section, we are going to illustrate the Pentax KF and Pentax KP side-by-side from the front, back and top in their relative dimensions. Pentax KF has external dimensions of 126 x 93 x 74 mm (4.94 x 3.66 x 2.91″) and weighs 684 g (1.50 lb / 24.12 oz) (including batteries). Pentax KP has external dimensions of 132 x 101 x 76 mm (5.2 x 3.98 x 2.99″) and weighs 703 g (1.55 lb / 24.80 oz) (including batteries).
Below you can see the front-view size comparison of the Pentax KF and the Pentax KP. Pentax KF is clearly the smaller of the two cameras. Its body is 6mm narrower, 8mm shorter and 2mm thinner than Pentax KP.
Here is the back view size comparison of the Pentax KF and Pentax KP.
Now lets look at the top view comparison of Pentax KF and Pentax KP.
Weight is another important factor, especially when deciding on a camera that you want to carry with you all day.
Pentax KF is 19g lighter than the Pentax KP but we don't think this will make a significant difference.
Also keep in mind that body weight is not the only deciding factor when comparing two interchangeable camera bodies, you also have to take into account the lenses that you will be using with these bodies. Since both Pentax KF and Pentax KP have the same Pentax KAF2 lens mount and APS-C sized sensors, lenses will not be a differentiator on total size of the system.
Weather Sealing
Both the KF and the KP have weather sealings in their bodies, making them resistant to water and dust.
LCD Screen Size and Features
Pentax KF and Pentax KP's LCD screens have the same diagonal size of 3.00 inches.
Pentax KP features a
Tilting-only screen which is mostly only good for shooting from waist or over-the-head levels. On the other hand, Pentax KF sports a
Fully Articulated screen which is more flexible and useful, especially for taking selfies and video.
