Weight is another important factor especially when deciding on a camera that you want to carry with you all day. Olympus E-M1 III is significantly lighter (255g ) than the Leica SL2 which may become a big advantage especially on long walking trips.

Also keep in mind that body weight is not the only deciding factor when comparing two interchangeable camera bodies, you have to also take into account the lenses that you will be using with these bodies. Since Leica SL2 has a Full frame sensor and Olympus E-M1 III has a smaller Four Thirds sensor, Olympus E-M1 III's lenses for a similar focal length and aperture will generally be lighter and smaller than the Leica SL2 lenses.

LCD Screen Size and Features

Leica SL2's 3.20" LCD screen is slightly larger than Olympus E-M1 III's 3 screen.

On the other hand, Olympus E-M1 III sports a Fully Articulated screen which you can change the angle and position of the screen almost freely, making it possible to shoot from waist or over the head levels, and especially very useful for shooting selfies and video. On the other hand, Leica SL2 has a fixed type screen which provides almost no flexibility in shooting positions compared to E-M1 III.
Olympus E-M1 III vs Leica SL2: Sensor Comparison

Olympus E-M1 III has a 20.0MP Four Thirds (17.4 x 13 mm ) sized CMOS sensor and features TruePic IX processor. On the other hand, Leica SL2 has a 47.0MP Full frame (36 x 24 mm ) sized CMOS sensor and features Maestro III processor.

Leica SL2's sensor provides 27MP more than Olympus E-M1 III's sensor, which gives a significant advantage in real life. You can print your images larger or crop more freely. On the other hand, please keep in mind that Max sensor resolution is not the only determinant of resolving power. Factors such as the optical elements, low pass filter, pixel size and sensor technology also affects the final resolution of the captured image.

Another similarity between these two cameras is that both Leica SL2 and Olympus E-M1 III sensors lack anti-alias (Low-Pass) filters. Removing anti-alias filter increases the sharpness and level of detail but at the same time, it increases the chance of moire occurring in certain scenes.

Below you can see the E-M1 III and SL2 sensor size comparison.

Sensor Size and Resolution Comparison image of Olympus E-M1 III and Leica SL2 Cameras
