Size and weight are big decision factors when you are trying to find the ideal camera for your needs.
In this section, we are going to illustrate the Leica SL2 and Panasonic S1R side-by-side from the front, back and top in their relative dimensions. Leica SL2 has external dimensions of 146 x 107 x 83 mm (5.75 x 4.21 x 1.65″) and weighs 835 g (1.84 lb / 29.45 oz) (including batteries). Panasonic S1R has external dimensions of 149 x 110 x 97 mm (5.87 x 4.33 x 3.82″) and weighs 898 g (1.98 lb / 31.68 oz) (including batteries).
Below you can see the front-view size comparison of the Leica SL2 and the Panasonic S1R. Leica SL2 is clearly the smaller of the two cameras. Its body is 3mm narrower, 3mm shorter and 14mm thinner than Panasonic S1R.
Here is the back view size comparison of the Leica SL2 and Panasonic S1R.
Now lets look at the top view comparison of Leica SL2 and Panasonic S1R.
Weight is another important factor, especially when deciding on a camera that you want to carry with you all day.
Leica SL2 is 63g lighter than the Panasonic S1R but we don't think this will make a significant difference.
Also keep in mind that body weight is not the only deciding factor when comparing two interchangeable camera bodies, you also have to take into account the lenses that you will be using with these bodies. Since both Leica SL2 and Panasonic S1R have the same Leica L lens mount and Full frame sized sensors, lenses will not be a differentiator on total size of the system.
Weather Sealing
Both the SL2 and the S1R have weather sealings in their bodies, making them resistant to water and dust.
LCD Screen Size and Features
Leica SL2 and Panasonic S1R's LCD screens have the same diagonal size of 3.20 inches.
On the other hand, Panasonic S1R features a
Tilting screen where you can change the angle of the screen to make it easier to shoot from waist or over-the-head levels whereas the Leica SL2 has a fixed type screen which provides less flexibility in shooting positions compared to S1R.
