LCD and Viewfinder
Nikon 1 J1 has a Fixed Type 3" LCD screen with a resolution of 460k dots. Both the screen size and the screen resolution is up to the standards of this class.
1 J1 doesn't have a viewfinder and no option for external viewfinder. Lack of a viewfinder can be problematic especially under strong light where visibility of LCD screens goes down dramatically. Nikon 1 J1 can shoot continuously at max speed of 10 fps
and has max shutter speed of 1/4000 sec
. 1 J1 also has an electronic shutter which can shoot silently at max speed of 16000
. One thing to keep in mind is that electronic shutter may cause rolling shutter effects on your images in certain conditions.
Unfortunately 1 J1 doesn't have an external flash shoe so you are limited with the built-in flash.
Nikon 1 J1 features both Contrast Detection and Phase Detection autofocus (AF) systems which ensures speed and accuracy of focusing in most situations. The AF system has 135 points to choose from.
With Nikon 1 J1, you can record your videos at a highest resolution of 1920 x 1080 at 60,30 fps and save in MPEG-4 and H.264 formats. Connectivity and Storage
You can connect 1 J1 to compatible devices via its HDMI port or USB 2.0 (480 Mbit/sec) port.
