    Weather Sealing

Canon D10 has environmental sealings on its body which makes it a weather resistant camera, providing resistance against the water and dust getting in to the camera. If you like outdoors photography and want to be able to use your camera in extreme conditions, Canon D10 will serve you well.

Canon D10 Sensor and Photography Features

Canon D10 has a 12.0MP 1/2.3-inch (6.17 x 4.55 mm ) sized CCD sensor . You can shoot at maximum resolution of 4000 x 3000 pixels with aspect ratios of 4:3 and 16:9. D10 has a native ISO range of 80 - 3200 but unfortunately, Canon D10 doesn't have RAW file support. If you need a Compact camera with a RAW support, consider Nikon Coolpix P7000 or Olympus XZ-1 in the same price range.

Canon D10 is not the highest resolution Small Sensor camera. Kodak Astro Zoom AZ651 with its 21.0MP sensor is leading in this class. Check the comparison of Canon D10 vs Kodak Astro Zoom AZ651 or take a look at Highest resolution Compact cameras list.

Let's look at how the size of the Canon D10's 1/2.3-inch sensor compares with other standard sensor sizes.

    Canon D10 Lens

Canon D10 features a 35-105 mm F2.8-4.9 3× zoom lens. With a focal length of only 35mm on the wide end, it offers very limited wide angle capability . However, 105mm on the tele end means that the medium telephoto angle is well covered, only lacking the reach for wildlife and sports.

D10 is also equipped with Optical image stabilization system which is very handy especially at lower shutter speeds. Canon D10's lens also has a Manual Focus Mode.

    Canon D10 LCD

Canon D10 has a Fixed Type 2.5" LCD screen with a resolution of 230k dots. At only 2.5", the screen is on the smaller side and 230kdot resolution is lower than most of the recent models in this class.

Canon D10 back view and LCD

D10 doesn't have a viewfinder and no option for external viewfinder. Lack of a viewfinder can be problematic especially under strong light where visibility of LCD screens goes down dramatically. If you need a Compact camera with a built-in viewfinder in a similar price range, consider Nikon Coolpix P7000 (Compare) or Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ28 (Compare).
If the price is not an issue, take a look at our Top Rated Cameras with Viewfinders.

Canon D10 Connectivity, Storage and Battery

Canon D10 has a USB 2.0 (480 Mbit/sec) port to connect your camera to other devices.
