Size and weight are big decision factors when you are trying to find the ideal camera for your needs.
In this section, we are going to illustrate the Zeiss ZX1 and Nikon D810A side-by-side from the front, back and top in their relative dimensions. Zeiss ZX1 has external dimensions of 142 x 93 x 46 mm (5.59 x 3.66 x 1.81″) and weighs 800 g (1.76 lb / 28.22 oz) (including batteries). Nikon D810A has external dimensions of 146 x 123 x 82 mm (5.75 x 4.84 x 3.23″) and weighs 880 g (1.94 lb / 31.04 oz) (including batteries).
Below you can see the front-view size comparison of the Zeiss ZX1 and the Nikon D810A. Zeiss ZX1 is clearly the smaller of the two cameras. Its body is 4mm narrower, 30mm shorter and 36mm thinner than Nikon D810A. As you can tell, actually this is not a fair size comparison since Zeiss ZX1 has a built-in lens but Nikon D810A doesn't. Once you put a lens on D810A, its thickness will increase significantly.
Here is the back view size comparison of the Zeiss ZX1 and Nikon D810A.
Now lets look at the top view comparison of Zeiss ZX1 and Nikon D810A.
Weight is another important factor, especially when deciding on a camera that you want to carry with you all day.
Zeiss ZX1 is 80g lighter than the Nikon D810A but we don't think this will make a significant difference.
Again, this comparison may not be very useful in real life as we are comparing the weight of a camera with a built-in lens to the body-only weight of an interchangeable lens camera. Once you put a lens on D810A, the total kit will weigh much higher.
Weather Sealing
Thanks to the weather-sealed body of the D810A, you can use this camera with more confidence under conditions where there is risk of exposure to water and dust compared to the ZX1.
LCD Screen Size and Features
Zeiss ZX1's 4.34" LCD screen is slightly larger than Nikon D810A's 3.2" screen.
Moreover, Zeiss ZX1 sports a
Fully Articulated screen which you can change the angle and position of the screen almost freely, making it possible to shoot from waist or over-the-head levels, and especially very useful for shooting selfies and video. On the other hand, Nikon D810A has a fixed type screen which provides almost no flexibility in shooting positions compared to ZX1.
