Size and weight are big decision factors when you are trying to find the ideal camera for your needs.
In this section, we are going to illustrate the Sony A6000 and Canon G1 X III side-by-side from the front, back and top in their relative dimensions. Sony A6000 has external dimensions of 120 x 67 x 45 mm (4.72 x 2.64 x 1.77″) and weighs 344 g (0.76 lb / 12.13 oz) (including batteries). Canon G1 X III has external dimensions of 115 x 78 x 51 mm (4.53 x 3.07 x 2.01″) and weighs 399 g (0.88 lb / 14.07 oz) (including batteries).
Below you can see the front-view size comparison of the Sony A6000 and the Canon G1 X III. Sony A6000 is 11mm shorter and 6mm thinner than Canon G1 X III but it is also 5mm wider. As you can tell, actually this is not a fair size comparison since Canon G1 X III has a built-in lens but Sony A6000 doesn't. Once you put a lens on A6000, its thickness will increase significantly.
Here is the back view size comparison of the Sony A6000 and Canon G1 X III.
Now lets look at the top view comparison of Sony A6000 and Canon G1 X III.
Weight is another important factor, especially when deciding on a camera that you want to carry with you all day.
Sony A6000 is 55g lighter than the Canon G1 X III but we don't think this will make a significant difference.
Again, this comparison may not be very useful in real life as we are comparing the weight of a camera with a built-in lens to the body-only weight of an interchangeable lens camera. Once you put a lens on A6000, the total kit will weigh much higher.
Weather Sealing
Thanks to the weather-sealed body of the G1 X III, you can use this camera with more confidence under conditions where there is risk of exposure to water and dust compared to the A6000.
LCD Screen Size and Features
Sony A6000 and Canon G1 X III's LCD screens have the same diagonal size of 3.00 inches.
Sony A6000 features a
Tilting-only screen which is mostly only good for shooting from waist or over-the-head levels. On the other hand, Canon G1 X III sports a
Fully Articulated screen which is more flexible and useful, especially for taking selfies and video.
