Size and weight are big decision factors when you are trying to find the ideal camera for your needs.
In this section, we are going to illustrate the Sony a3500 and Olympus E-M10 side-by-side from the front, back and top in their relative dimensions. Sony a3500 has external dimensions of 128 x 91 x 85 mm (5.04 x 3.58 x 3.35″) and weighs 411 g (0.91 lb / 14.50 oz) (including batteries). Olympus E-M10 has external dimensions of 119 x 82 x 46 mm (4.69 x 3.24 x 1.81″) and weighs 396 g (0.87 lb / 13.97 oz) (including batteries).
Below you can see the front-view size comparison of the Sony a3500 and the Olympus E-M10. Olympus E-M10 is clearly the smaller of the two cameras. Its body is 9mm narrower, 9mm shorter and 39mm thinner than Sony a3500.
Now lets look at the top view comparison of Sony a3500 and Olympus E-M10.
Weight is another important factor, especially when deciding on a camera that you want to carry with you all day.
Olympus E-M10 is 15g lighter than the Sony a3500 but we don't think this will make a significant difference.
Also keep in mind that body weight is not the only deciding factor when comparing two interchangeable camera bodies, you also have to take into account the lenses that you will be using with these bodies. Since Sony a3500 has an APS-C sized sensor and Olympus E-M10 has a smaller Four Thirds sensor, Olympus E-M10's lenses for a similar focal length and aperture will generally be lighter and smaller than the Sony a3500 lenses.
Weather Sealing
Unfortunately neither the Sony Alpha a3500 nor Olympus OM-D E-M10 provides any type of weather sealing in their bodies, so you have to give extra care especially when you are shooting outdoors. LCD Screen Size and Features
Sony a3500 and Olympus E-M10's LCD screens have the same diagonal size of 3.00 inches.
On the other hand, Olympus E-M10 features a
Tilting screen where you can change the angle of the screen to make it easier to shoot from waist or over-the-head levels whereas the Sony a3500 has a fixed type screen which provides less flexibility in shooting positions compared to E-M10.
