Size and weight are big decision factors when you are trying to find the ideal camera for your needs.
In this section, we are going to illustrate the Pentax WG-1 GPS and Panasonic GX85 side-by-side from the front, back and top in their relative dimensions. Pentax WG-1 GPS has external dimensions of 116 x 59 x 29 mm (4.55 x 2.3 x 1.12″) and weighs 167 g (0.37 lb / 5.89 oz) (including batteries). Panasonic GX85 has external dimensions of 122 x 71 x 44 mm (4.8 x 2.8 x 1.73) and weighs 426 g (0.94 lb / 15.03 oz) (including batteries).
Below you can see the front-view size comparison of the Pentax WG-1 GPS and the Panasonic GX85. Pentax WG-1 GPS is clearly the smaller of the two cameras. Its body is 6mm narrower, 12mm shorter and 15mm thinner than Panasonic GX85. As you can tell, actually this is not a fair size comparison since Pentax WG-1 GPS has a built-in lens but Panasonic GX85 doesn't. Once you put a lens on GX85, its thickness will increase significantly.
Here is the back view size comparison of the Pentax WG-1 GPS and Panasonic GX85.
Now lets look at the top view comparison of Pentax WG-1 GPS and Panasonic GX85.
Weight is another important factor, especially when deciding on a camera that you want to carry with you all day.
Pentax WG-1 GPS is significantly lighter (259g ) than the Panasonic GX85 which may become a big advantage especially on long walking trips.
Again, this comparison may not be very useful in real life as we are comparing the weight of a camera with a built-in lens to the body-only weight of an interchangeable lens camera. Once you put a lens on GX85, the total kit will weigh much higher.
Weather Sealing
Thanks to the weather-sealed body of the WG-1 GPS, you can use this camera with more confidence under conditions where there is risk of exposure to water and dust compared to the GX85.
LCD Screen Size and Features
Panasonic GX85's 3.00" LCD screen is slightly larger than Pentax WG-1 GPS's 2.7" screen.
In addition to the size advantage, Panasonic GX85 LCD screen also has a
Tilting feature where you can change the angle of the screen to make it easier to shoot from waist or over-the-head levels. On the other hand, Pentax WG-1 GPS has a fixed type screen which provides less flexibility in shooting positions compared to GX85.
