Size and weight are big decision factors when you are trying to find the ideal camera for your needs.
In this section, we are going to illustrate the Pentax K10D and Canon SD960 IS side-by-side from the front, back and top in their relative dimensions. Pentax K10D has external dimensions of 142 x 101 x 70 mm (5.59 x 3.98 x 2.76″) and weighs 793 g (1.75 lb / 27.97 oz) (including batteries). Canon SD960 IS has external dimensions of 98 x 54 x 22 mm (3.86 x 2.13 x 0.87″) and weighs 145 g (0.32 lb / 5.11 oz) (including batteries).
Below you can see the front-view size comparison of the Pentax K10D and the Canon SD960 IS. Canon SD960 IS is clearly the smaller of the two cameras. Its body is 44mm narrower, 47mm shorter and 48mm thinner than Pentax K10D. As you can tell, actually this is not a fair size comparison since Canon SD960 IS has a built-in lens but Pentax K10D doesn't. Once you put a lens on K10D, its thickness will increase significantly.
Weight is another important factor, especially when deciding on a camera that you want to carry with you all day.
Canon SD960 IS is significantly lighter (648g ) than the Pentax K10D which may become a big advantage especially on long walking trips.
Again, this comparison may not be very useful in real life as we are comparing the weight of a camera with a built-in lens to the body-only weight of an interchangeable lens camera. Once you put a lens on K10D, the total kit will weigh much higher.
Weather Sealing
With its weather-sealed body, we believe that the K10D has a big advantage over the SD960 IS which doesn't provide any kind of environmental sealing.
LCD Screen Size and Features
Canon SD960 IS's 2.80" LCD screen is slightly larger than Pentax K10D's 2.5" screen.
Unfortunately, both cameras has fixed screens so they don't tilt or flip in directions.
