Size and weight are big decision factors when you are trying to find the ideal camera for your needs.
In this section, we are going to illustrate the Pentax K-S2 and Sony WX9 side-by-side from the front, back and top in their relative dimensions. Pentax K-S2 has external dimensions of 123 x 91 x 73 mm (3.58 x 4.84 x 2.87″) and weighs 678 g (1.49 lb / 23.92 oz) (including batteries). Sony WX9 has external dimensions of 95 x 56 x 20 mm (3.74 x 2.2 x 0.79″) and weighs (including batteries).
Below you can see the front-view size comparison of the Pentax K-S2 and the Sony WX9. Sony WX9 is clearly the smaller of the two cameras. Its body is 28mm narrower, 35mm shorter and 53mm thinner than Pentax K-S2. As you can tell, actually this is not a fair size comparison since Sony WX9 has a built-in lens but Pentax K-S2 doesn't. Once you put a lens on K-S2, its thickness will increase significantly.
Here is the back view size comparison of the Pentax K-S2 and Sony WX9.
Now lets look at the top view comparison of Pentax K-S2 and Sony WX9.
Weight is another important factor, especially when deciding on a camera that you want to carry with you all day.
Sony WX9 is 678g lighter than the Pentax K-S2 but we don't think this will make a significant difference.
Again, this comparison may not be very useful in real life as we are comparing the weight of a camera with a built-in lens to the body-only weight of an interchangeable lens camera. Once you put a lens on K-S2, the total kit will weigh much higher.
Weather Sealing
With its weather-sealed body, we believe that the K-S2 has a big advantage over the WX9 which doesn't provide any kind of environmental sealing.
LCD Screen Size and Features
Pentax K-S2 and Sony WX9's LCD screens have the same diagonal size of 3.00 inches.
On the other hand, Pentax K-S2 sports a
Fully Articulated screen which you can change the angle and position of the screen almost freely, making it possible to shoot from waist or over-the-head levels, and especially very useful for shooting selfies and video. Sony WX9's LCD screen is a fixed type which provides almost no flexibility in shooting positions compared to K-S2.
