Size and weight are big decision factors when you are trying to find the ideal camera for your needs.
In this section, we are going to illustrate the Panasonic LS5 and Sony NEX-5T side-by-side from the front, back and top in their relative dimensions. Panasonic LS5 has external dimensions of 97 x 62 x 27 mm (3.82 x 2.44 x 1.06″) and weighs 126 g (0.28 lb / 4.44 oz) (including batteries). Sony NEX-5T has external dimensions of 111 x 59 x 39 mm (4.36 x 2.31 x 1.53″) and weighs 276 g (0.61 lb / 9.74 oz) (including batteries).
Below you can see the front-view size comparison of the Panasonic LS5 and the Sony NEX-5T. Panasonic LS5 is 14mm narrower and 12mm thinner than Sony NEX-5T but it is also 3mm taller. As you can tell, actually this is not a fair size comparison since Panasonic LS5 has a built-in lens but Sony NEX-5T doesn't. Once you put a lens on NEX-5T, its thickness will increase significantly.
Now lets look at the top view comparison of Panasonic LS5 and Sony NEX-5T.
Weight is another important factor, especially when deciding on a camera that you want to carry with you all day.
Panasonic LS5 is significantly lighter (150g ) than the Sony NEX-5T which may become a big advantage especially on long walking trips.
Again, this comparison may not be very useful in real life as we are comparing the weight of a camera with a built-in lens to the body-only weight of an interchangeable lens camera. Once you put a lens on NEX-5T, the total kit will weigh much higher.
Weather Sealing
Unfortunately neither the Panasonic Lumix DMC-LS5 nor Sony Alpha NEX-5T provides any type of weather sealing in their bodies, so you have to give extra care especially when you are shooting outdoors. LCD Screen Size and Features
Sony NEX-5T's 3.00" LCD screen is slightly larger than Panasonic LS5's 2.7 screen.
In addition to the size advantage, Sony NEX-5T LCD screen also has a
Tilting feature where you can change the angle of the screen to make it easier to shoot from waist or over-the-head levels. On the other hand, Panasonic LS5 has a fixed type screen which provides less flexibility in shooting positions compared to NEX-5T.
