Size and weight are big decision factors when you are trying to find the ideal camera for your needs.
In this section, we are going to illustrate the Panasonic LS5 and Nikon D2Xs side-by-side from the front, back and top in their relative dimensions. Panasonic LS5 has external dimensions of 97 x 62 x 27 mm (3.82 x 2.44 x 1.06″) and weighs 126 g (0.28 lb / 4.44 oz) (including batteries). Nikon D2Xs has external dimensions of 158 x 150 x 86 mm (6.22 x 5.91 x 3.39″) and weighs 1200 g (2.65 lb / 42.33 oz) (including batteries).
Below you can see the front-view size comparison of the Panasonic LS5 and the Nikon D2Xs. Panasonic LS5 is clearly the smaller of the two cameras. Its body is 61mm narrower, 88mm shorter and 59mm thinner than Nikon D2Xs. As you can tell, actually this is not a fair size comparison since Panasonic LS5 has a built-in lens but Nikon D2Xs doesn't. Once you put a lens on D2Xs, its thickness will increase significantly.
Here is the back view size comparison of the Panasonic LS5 and Nikon D2Xs.
Now lets look at the top view comparison of Panasonic LS5 and Nikon D2Xs.
Weight is another important factor, especially when deciding on a camera that you want to carry with you all day.
Panasonic LS5 is significantly lighter (1074g ) than the Nikon D2Xs which may become a big advantage especially on long walking trips.
Again, this comparison may not be very useful in real life as we are comparing the weight of a camera with a built-in lens to the body-only weight of an interchangeable lens camera. Once you put a lens on D2Xs, the total kit will weigh much higher.
Weather Sealing
Thanks to the weather-sealed body of the D2Xs, you can use this camera with more confidence under conditions where there is risk of exposure to water and dust compared to the LS5.
LCD Screen Size and Features
Panasonic LS5's 2.70" LCD screen is slightly larger than Nikon D2Xs's 2.5 screen.
Unfortunately, both cameras has fixed screens so they don't tilt or flip in directions.
