Size and weight is a big decision factor when you are trying to find the ideal camera for your needs.
In this section, We are going to illustrate Panasonic G85 and Pentax P70 side-by-side from the front, back and top in their relative dimensions. Panasonic G85 has external dimensions of 128 x 89 x 74 mm (5.04 x 3.5 x 2.91″) and weighs 505 g (1.11 lb / 17.81 oz) (including batteries). Pentax P70 has external dimensions of 97 x 54 x 22 mm (3.82 x 2.13 x 0.87″) and weighs 155 g (0.34 lb / 5.47 oz) (including batteries).
Below you can see the front view size comparison of Panasonic G85 and Pentax P70. Pentax P70 is clearly the smaller of the two cameras. Its body is 31mm narrower, 35mm shorter and 52mm thinner than Panasonic G85. As you can tell, actually this is not a fair size comparison since Pentax P70 has a built-in lens but Panasonic G85 doesn't. Once you put a lens on G85, its thickness will increase significantly.
Here is the back view size comparison of Panasonic G85 and Pentax P70.
Weight is another important factor especially when deciding on a camera that you want to carry with you all day.
Pentax P70 is significantly lighter (350g ) than the Panasonic G85 which may become a big advantage especially on long walking trips.
Again, this comparison may not be very useful in real life as we are comparing the weight of a camera with a built-in lens to the body-only weight of an interchangeable lens camera. Once you put a lens on G85, the total kit will weigh much higher.
With its weather sealed body, we believe that G85 has a big advantage over P70 which doesn't provide any kind of environmental sealing.
LCD Screen Size and Features
Panasonic G85's 3" LCD screen is slightly larger than Pentax P70's 2.7" screen.
Moreover, Panasonic G85 sports a Fully Articulated screen
which you can change the angle and position of the screen almost freely, making it possible to shoot from waist or over the head levels, and especially very useful for shooting selfies and video. On the other hand, Pentax P70 has a fixed type screen which provides almost no flexibility in shooting positions compared to G85.
