Size and weight is a big decision factor when you are trying to find the ideal camera for your needs.
In this section, We are going to illustrate Panasonic S5 and Sony RX10 side-by-side from the front, back and top in their relative dimensions. Panasonic S5 has external dimensions of 133 x 97 x 82 mm (5.24 x 3.82 x 3.23″) and weighs 714 g (1.57 lb) (including batteries). Sony RX10 has external dimensions of 129 x 88 x 102 mm (5.08 x 3.46 x 4.02″) and weighs 813 g (1.79 lb / 28.68 oz) (including batteries).
Below you can see the front view size comparison of Panasonic S5 and Sony RX10. Sony RX10 is 4mm narrower and 9mm shorter than Panasonic S5 but it is also 20mm thicker. As you can tell, actually this is not a fair size comparison since Sony RX10 has a built-in lens but Panasonic S5 doesn't. Once you put a lens on S5, its thickness will increase significantly.
Here is the back view size comparison of Panasonic S5 and Sony RX10.
Now lets look at the top view comparison of Panasonic S5 and Sony RX10.
Weight is another important factor especially when deciding on a camera that you want to carry with you all day.
Panasonic S5 is 99g lighter than the Sony RX10 but we don't think this will make a significant difference.
Again, this comparison may not be very useful in real life as we are comparing the weight of a camera with a built-in lens to the body-only weight of an interchangeable lens camera. Once you put a lens on S5, the total kit will weigh much higher.
Both S5 and RX10 have weather sealings in their body, making them resistant to water and dust.
