Size and weight are big decision factors when you are trying to find the ideal camera for your needs.
In this section, we are going to illustrate the Panasonic S1 and Panasonic ZS70 side-by-side from the front, back and top in their relative dimensions. Panasonic S1 has external dimensions of 149 x 110 x 97 mm (5.87 x 4.33 x 3.82″) and weighs 1021 g (2.25 lb) (including batteries). Panasonic ZS70 has external dimensions of 112 x 67 x 41 mm (4.41 x 2.64 x 1.61″) and weighs 322 g (0.71 lb / 11.36 oz) (including batteries).
Below you can see the front-view size comparison of the Panasonic S1 and the Panasonic ZS70. Panasonic ZS70 is clearly the smaller of the two cameras. Its body is 37mm narrower, 43mm shorter and 56mm thinner than Panasonic S1. As you can tell, actually this is not a fair size comparison since Panasonic ZS70 has a built-in lens but Panasonic S1 doesn't. Once you put a lens on S1, its thickness will increase significantly.
Here is the back view size comparison of the Panasonic S1 and Panasonic ZS70.
Now lets look at the top view comparison of Panasonic S1 and Panasonic ZS70.
Weight is another important factor, especially when deciding on a camera that you want to carry with you all day.
Panasonic ZS70 is significantly lighter (699g ) than the Panasonic S1 which may become a big advantage especially on long walking trips.
Again, this comparison may not be very useful in real life as we are comparing the weight of a camera with a built-in lens to the body-only weight of an interchangeable lens camera. Once you put a lens on S1, the total kit will weigh much higher.
Weather Sealing
With its weather-sealed body, we believe that the S1 has a big advantage over the ZS70 which doesn't provide any kind of environmental sealing.
LCD Screen Size and Features
Panasonic S1's 3.20" LCD screen is slightly larger than Panasonic ZS70's 3 screen.
Both cameras feature
Tilting screens where you can change the angle of the screen to make it easier to shoot from waist or over-the-head levels.
