Size and weight are big decision factors when you are trying to find the ideal camera for your needs.
In this section, we are going to illustrate the Panasonic GH5S and Nikon S3000 side-by-side from the front, back and top in their relative dimensions. Panasonic GH5S has external dimensions of 139 x 98 x 87 mm (5.47 x 3.86 x 3.43″) and weighs 660 g (1.46 lb / 23.28 oz) (including batteries). Nikon S3000 has external dimensions of 94 x 56 x 19 mm (3.7 x 2.2 x 0.75″) and weighs 116 g (0.26 lb / 4.09 oz) (including batteries).
Below you can see the front-view size comparison of the Panasonic GH5S and the Nikon S3000. Nikon S3000 is clearly the smaller of the two cameras. Its body is 45mm narrower, 42mm shorter and 68mm thinner than Panasonic GH5S. As you can tell, actually this is not a fair size comparison since Nikon S3000 has a built-in lens but Panasonic GH5S doesn't. Once you put a lens on GH5S, its thickness will increase significantly.
Here is the back view size comparison of the Panasonic GH5S and Nikon S3000.
Now lets look at the top view comparison of Panasonic GH5S and Nikon S3000.
Weight is another important factor, especially when deciding on a camera that you want to carry with you all day.
Nikon S3000 is significantly lighter (544g ) than the Panasonic GH5S which may become a big advantage especially on long walking trips.
Again, this comparison may not be very useful in real life as we are comparing the weight of a camera with a built-in lens to the body-only weight of an interchangeable lens camera. Once you put a lens on GH5S, the total kit will weigh much higher.
Weather Sealing
With its weather-sealed body, we believe that the GH5S has a big advantage over the S3000 which doesn't provide any kind of environmental sealing.
LCD Screen Size and Features
Panasonic GH5S's 3.20" LCD screen is slightly larger than Nikon S3000's 2.7" screen.
Moreover, Panasonic GH5S sports a
Fully Articulated screen which you can change the angle and position of the screen almost freely, making it possible to shoot from waist or over-the-head levels, and especially very useful for shooting selfies and video. On the other hand, Nikon S3000 has a fixed type screen which provides almost no flexibility in shooting positions compared to GH5S.
