Size and weight are big decision factors when you are trying to find the ideal camera for your needs.
In this section, we are going to illustrate the Olympus E-3 and Kodak M530 side-by-side from the front, back and top in their relative dimensions. Olympus E-3 has external dimensions of 142 x 116 x 75 mm (5.59 x 4.57 x 2.95″) and weighs 890 g (1.96 lb / 31.39 oz) (including batteries). Kodak M530 has external dimensions of 94 x 57 x 23 mm (3.7 x 2.24 x 0.91″) and weighs 150 g (0.33 lb / 5.29 oz) (including batteries).
Below you can see the front-view size comparison of the Olympus E-3 and the Kodak M530. Kodak M530 is clearly the smaller of the two cameras. Its body is 48mm narrower, 59mm shorter and 52mm thinner than Olympus E-3. As you can tell, actually this is not a fair size comparison since Kodak M530 has a built-in lens but Olympus E-3 doesn't. Once you put a lens on E-3, its thickness will increase significantly.
Here is the back view size comparison of the Olympus E-3 and Kodak M530.
Weight is another important factor, especially when deciding on a camera that you want to carry with you all day.
Kodak M530 is significantly lighter (740g ) than the Olympus E-3 which may become a big advantage especially on long walking trips.
Again, this comparison may not be very useful in real life as we are comparing the weight of a camera with a built-in lens to the body-only weight of an interchangeable lens camera. Once you put a lens on E-3, the total kit will weigh much higher.
Weather Sealing
With its weather-sealed body, we believe that the E-3 has a big advantage over the M530 which doesn't provide any kind of environmental sealing.
LCD Screen Size and Features
Kodak M530's 2.70" LCD screen is slightly larger than Olympus E-3's 2.5" screen.
On the other hand, Olympus E-3 sports a
Fully Articulated screen which you can change the angle and position of the screen almost freely, making it possible to shoot from waist or over-the-head levels, and especially very useful for shooting selfies and video. On the other hand, Kodak M530 has a fixed type screen which provides almost no flexibility in shooting positions compared to E-3.
