Size and weight are big decision factors when you are trying to find the ideal camera for your needs.
In this section, we are going to illustrate the Nikon D5 and Sony H300 side-by-side from the front, back and top in their relative dimensions. Nikon D5 has external dimensions of 160 x 158.5 x 92 mm (6.3 x 6.2 x 3.62″) and weighs 1415 g (3.12 lb / 49.91 oz) (including batteries). Sony H300 has external dimensions of 130 x 95 x 122 mm (5.1 x 3.74 x 4.81″) and weighs 590 g (1.30 lb / 20.81 oz) (including batteries).
Below you can see the front-view size comparison of the Nikon D5 and the Sony H300. Sony H300 is 30mm narrower and 64mm shorter than Nikon D5 but it is also 30mm thicker. As you can tell, actually this is not a fair size comparison since Sony H300 has a built-in lens but Nikon D5 doesn't. Once you put a lens on D5, its thickness will increase significantly.
Here is the back view size comparison of the Nikon D5 and Sony H300.
Now lets look at the top view comparison of Nikon D5 and Sony H300.
Weight is another important factor, especially when deciding on a camera that you want to carry with you all day.
Sony H300 is significantly lighter (825g ) than the Nikon D5 which may become a big advantage especially on long walking trips.
Again, this comparison may not be very useful in real life as we are comparing the weight of a camera with a built-in lens to the body-only weight of an interchangeable lens camera. Once you put a lens on D5, the total kit will weigh much higher.
Weather Sealing
With its weather-sealed body, we believe that the D5 has a big advantage over the H300 which doesn't provide any kind of environmental sealing.
LCD Screen Size and Features
Nikon D5's 3.20" LCD screen is slightly larger than Sony H300's 3" screen.
Unfortunately, both cameras has fixed screens so they don't tilt or flip in directions.
