Size and weight are big decision factors when you are trying to find the ideal camera for your needs.
In this section, we are going to illustrate the Nikon P950 and Panasonic GX8 side-by-side from the front, back and top in their relative dimensions. Nikon P950 has external dimensions of 140 x 110 x 150 mm (5.51 x 4.33 x 5.91″) and weighs 1005 g (2.22 lb / 35.45 oz) (including batteries). Panasonic GX8 has external dimensions of 133 x 78 x 63 mm (5.24 x 3.07 x 2.48″) and weighs 487 g (1.07 lb / 17.18 oz) (including batteries).
Below you can see the front-view size comparison of the Nikon P950 and the Panasonic GX8. Panasonic GX8 is clearly the smaller of the two cameras. Its body is 7mm narrower, 32mm shorter and 87mm thinner than Nikon P950. As you can tell, actually this is not a fair size comparison since Nikon P950 has a built-in lens but Panasonic GX8 doesn't. Once you put a lens on GX8, its thickness will increase significantly.
Here is the back view size comparison of the Nikon P950 and Panasonic GX8.
Now lets look at the top view comparison of Nikon P950 and Panasonic GX8.
Weight is another important factor, especially when deciding on a camera that you want to carry with you all day.
Panasonic GX8 is significantly lighter (518g ) than the Nikon P950 which may become a big advantage especially on long walking trips.
Again, this comparison may not be very useful in real life as we are comparing the weight of a camera with a built-in lens to the body-only weight of an interchangeable lens camera. Once you put a lens on GX8, the total kit will weigh much higher.
Weather Sealing
Thanks to the weather-sealed body of the GX8, you can use this camera with more confidence under conditions where there is risk of exposure to water and dust compared to the P950.
LCD Screen Size and Features
Nikon P950's 3.20" LCD screen is slightly larger than Panasonic GX8's 3" screen.
