Size and weight are big decision factors when you are trying to find the ideal camera for your needs.
In this section, we are going to illustrate the Nikon 1 V3 and Nikon S80 side-by-side from the front, back and top in their relative dimensions. Nikon 1 V3 has external dimensions of 111 x 65 x 33 mm (4.37 x 2.56 x 1.3″) and weighs 381 g (0.84 lb / 13.44 oz) (including batteries). Nikon S80 has external dimensions of 99 x 63 x 17 mm (3.9 x 2.48 x 0.67″) and weighs 133 g (0.29 lb / 4.69 oz) (including batteries).
Below you can see the front-view size comparison of the Nikon 1 V3 and the Nikon S80. Nikon S80 is clearly the smaller of the two cameras. Its body is 12mm narrower, 2mm shorter and 16mm thinner than Nikon 1 V3. As you can tell, actually this is not a fair size comparison since Nikon S80 has a built-in lens but Nikon 1 V3 doesn't. Once you put a lens on 1 V3, its thickness will increase significantly.
Here is the back view size comparison of the Nikon 1 V3 and Nikon S80.
Now lets look at the top view comparison of Nikon 1 V3 and Nikon S80.
Weight is another important factor, especially when deciding on a camera that you want to carry with you all day.
Nikon S80 is significantly lighter (248g ) than the Nikon 1 V3 which may become a big advantage especially on long walking trips.
Again, this comparison may not be very useful in real life as we are comparing the weight of a camera with a built-in lens to the body-only weight of an interchangeable lens camera. Once you put a lens on 1 V3, the total kit will weigh much higher.
Weather Sealing
Unfortunately neither the Nikon 1 V3 nor Nikon Coolpix S80 provides any type of weather sealing in their bodies, so you have to give extra care especially when you are shooting outdoors. LCD Screen Size and Features
Nikon S80's 3.50" LCD screen is slightly larger than Nikon 1 V3's 3" screen.
On the other hand, Nikon 1 V3 LCD screen has a
Tilting feature where you can change the angle of the screen to make it easier to shoot from waist or over-the-head levels. On the other hand, Nikon S80 has a fixed type screen which provides less flexibility in shooting positions compared to 1 V3.
