Both Leica X Vario and Fujifilm F600 EXR have 16.0 MP resolution sensors but Leica X Vario's sensor is APS-C (23.6 x 15.8 mm ) and Fujifilm F600 EXR's sensor is 1/2-inch (6.4 x 4.8 mm ).
Since Leica X Vario's has a larger sensor area with the same resolution, this means that it also has a larger pixel area hence better light collecting capacity for a given aperture compared to Fujifilm F600 EXR.
Below you can see the X Vario and F600 EXR sensor size comparison.
As seen above, Leica X Vario has a 12.1x Larger sensor area than Fujifilm F600 EXR. Larger sensors give photographer more control on the depth of field and blurry background compared to smaller sensor when shot in same focal length and aperture.
DxOMark Sensor Scores
Both Leica X Vario and Fujifilm F600 EXR sensors have been tested by DxoMark. DxoMark scores camera sensors for color depth (DXO Portrait), dynamic range (DXO Landscape) and low-light sensitivity (DXO Sports), and also gives them an overall score. Of the two cameras that we are comparing, X Vario has scored 78, 38 points higher than F600 EXR.
