Size and weight are big decision factors when you are trying to find the ideal camera for your needs.
In this section, we are going to illustrate the Leica Q-P and Sony A9 II side-by-side from the front, back and top in their relative dimensions. Leica Q-P has external dimensions of 130 x 80 x 93 mm (5.12 x 3.15 x 3.66″) and weighs 640 g (1.41 lb / 22.58 oz) (including batteries). Sony A9 II has external dimensions of 129 x 96 x 76 mm (5.08 x 3.78 x 2.99″) and weighs 678 g (1.49 lb / 23.92 oz) (including batteries).
Below you can see the front-view size comparison of the Leica Q-P and the Sony A9 II. Sony A9 II is 1mm narrower and 17mm thinner than Leica Q-P but it is also 16mm taller. As you can tell, actually this is not a fair size comparison since Leica Q-P has a built-in lens but Sony A9 II doesn't. Once you put a lens on A9 Mark II, its thickness will increase significantly.
Here is the back view size comparison of the Leica Q-P and Sony A9 II.
Now lets look at the top view comparison of Leica Q-P and Sony A9 II.
Weight is another important factor, especially when deciding on a camera that you want to carry with you all day.
Leica Q-P is 38g lighter than the Sony A9 II but we don't think this will make a significant difference.
Again, this comparison may not be very useful in real life as we are comparing the weight of a camera with a built-in lens to the body-only weight of an interchangeable lens camera. Once you put a lens on A9 Mark II, the total kit will weigh much higher.
Weather Sealing
Thanks to the weather-sealed body of the A9 Mark II, you can use this camera with more confidence under conditions where there is risk of exposure to water and dust compared to the Q-P.
LCD Screen Size and Features
Leica Q-P and Sony A9 II's LCD screens have the same diagonal size of 3.00 inches.
On the other hand, Sony A9 II features a
Tilting screen where you can change the angle of the screen to make it easier to shoot from waist or over-the-head levels whereas the Leica Q-P has a fixed type screen which provides less flexibility in shooting positions compared to A9 Mark II.
