Size and weight is a big decision factor when you are trying to find the ideal camera for your needs.
In this section, We are going to illustrate Kodak M590 and Sony A7S II side-by-side from the front, back and top in their relative dimensions. Kodak M590 has external dimensions of 97 x 58 x 15 mm (3.82 x 2.28 x 0.59″) and weighs (including batteries). Sony A7S II has external dimensions of 127 x 96 x 60 mm (5 x 3.78 x 2.36″) and weighs 627 g (1.38 lb / 22.12 oz) (including batteries).
Below you can see the front view size comparison of Kodak M590 and Sony A7S II. Kodak M590 is clearly the smaller of the two cameras. Its body is 30mm narrower, 38mm shorter and 45mm thinner than Sony A7S II. As you can tell, actually this is not a fair size comparison since Kodak M590 has a built-in lens but Sony A7S II doesn't. Once you put a lens on A7S II, its thickness will increase significantly.
Here is the back view size comparison of Kodak M590 and Sony A7S II.
Now lets look at the top view comparison of Kodak M590 and Sony A7S II.
Weight is another important factor especially when deciding on a camera that you want to carry with you all day.
Kodak M590 is 627g lighter than the Sony A7S II but we don't think this will make a significant difference.
Again, this comparison may not be very useful in real life as we are comparing the weight of a camera with a built-in lens to the body-only weight of an interchangeable lens camera. Once you put a lens on A7S II, the total kit will weigh much higher.
Thanks to the weather sealed body of A7S II, you can use this camera with more confidence under conditions where there is risk of exposure to water and dust compared to M590.
LCD Screen Size and Features
Sony A7S II's 3 LCD screen is slightly larger than Kodak M590's 2.5" screen.
In addition to the size advantage, Sony A7S II LCD screen also has a Tilting feature
where you can change the angle of the screen to make it easier to shoot from waist or over the head levels. On the other hand, Kodak M590 has a fixed type screen which provides less flexibility in shooting positions compared to A7S II.
