Size and weight are big decision factors when you are trying to find the ideal camera for your needs.
In this section, we are going to illustrate the Kodak M580 and Kodak S-1 side-by-side from the front, back and top in their relative dimensions. Kodak M580 has external dimensions of 101 x 59 x 56 mm (3.98 x 2.32 x 2.2″) and weighs 150 g (0.33 lb / 5.29 oz) (including batteries). Kodak S-1 has external dimensions of 116 x 68 x 36 mm (4.55 x 2.69 x 1.4″) and weighs 290 g (0.64 lb / 10.23 oz) (including batteries).
Below you can see the front-view size comparison of the Kodak M580 and the Kodak S-1. Kodak M580 is 15mm narrower and 9mm shorter than Kodak S-1 but it is also 20mm thicker. As you can tell, actually this is not a fair size comparison since Kodak M580 has a built-in lens but Kodak S-1 doesn't. Once you put a lens on S-1, its thickness will increase significantly.
Now lets look at the top view comparison of Kodak M580 and Kodak S-1.
Weight is another important factor, especially when deciding on a camera that you want to carry with you all day.
Kodak M580 is significantly lighter (140g ) than the Kodak S-1 which may become a big advantage especially on long walking trips.
Again, this comparison may not be very useful in real life as we are comparing the weight of a camera with a built-in lens to the body-only weight of an interchangeable lens camera. Once you put a lens on S-1, the total kit will weigh much higher.
Weather Sealing
Unfortunately neither the Kodak EasyShare M580 nor Kodak Pixpro S-1 provides any type of weather sealing in their bodies, so you have to give extra care especially when you are shooting outdoors. LCD Screen Size and Features
Kodak M580 and Kodak S-1's LCD screens have the same diagonal size of 3.00 inches.
On the other hand, Kodak S-1 features a
Tilting screen where you can change the angle of the screen to make it easier to shoot from waist or over-the-head levels whereas the Kodak M580 has a fixed type screen which provides less flexibility in shooting positions compared to S-1.
