Size and weight are big decision factors when you are trying to find the ideal camera for your needs.
In this section, we are going to illustrate the Canon G5 X and Sony A6100 side-by-side from the front, back and top in their relative dimensions. Canon G5 X has external dimensions of 112 x 76 x 44 mm (4.41 x 2.99 x 1.73″) and weighs 353 g (0.78 lb / 12.45 oz) (including batteries). Sony A6100 has external dimensions of 120 x 67 x 59 mm (4.72 x 2.64 x 2.32″) and weighs 396 g (0.87 lb / 13.97 oz) (including batteries).
Below you can see the front-view size comparison of the Canon G5 X and the Sony A6100. Canon G5 X is 8mm narrower and 15mm thinner than Sony A6100 but it is also 9mm taller. As you can tell, actually this is not a fair size comparison since Canon G5 X has a built-in lens but Sony A6100 doesn't. Once you put a lens on A6100, its thickness will increase significantly.
Here is the back view size comparison of the Canon G5 X and Sony A6100.
Now lets look at the top view comparison of Canon G5 X and Sony A6100.
Weight is another important factor, especially when deciding on a camera that you want to carry with you all day.
Canon G5 X is 43g lighter than the Sony A6100 but we don't think this will make a significant difference.
Again, this comparison may not be very useful in real life as we are comparing the weight of a camera with a built-in lens to the body-only weight of an interchangeable lens camera. Once you put a lens on A6100, the total kit will weigh much higher.
Weather Sealing
Unfortunately neither the Canon PowerShot G5 X nor Sony Alpha a6100 provides any type of weather sealing in their bodies, so you have to give extra care especially when you are shooting outdoors. LCD Screen Size and Features
Canon G5 X and Sony A6100's LCD screens have the same diagonal size of 3.00 inches.
Sony A6100 features a
Tilting-only screen which is mostly only good for shooting from waist or over-the-head levels. On the other hand, Canon G5 X sports a
Fully Articulated screen which is more flexible and useful, especially for taking selfies and video.
