Size and weight are big decision factors when you are trying to find the ideal camera for your needs.
In this section, we are going to illustrate the Canon G3 X and Canon M50 side-by-side from the front, back and top in their relative dimensions. Canon G3 X has external dimensions of 123 x 77 x 105 mm (4.84 x 3.03 x 4.13″) and weighs 733 g (1.62 lb / 25.86 oz) (including batteries). Canon M50 has external dimensions of 116 x 88 x 59 mm (4.57 x 3.46 x 2.32″) and weighs 390 g (0.86 lb / 13.76 oz) (including batteries).
Below you can see the front-view size comparison of the Canon G3 X and the Canon M50. Canon M50 is 7mm narrower and 46mm thinner than Canon G3 X but it is also 11mm taller. As you can tell, actually this is not a fair size comparison since Canon G3 X has a built-in lens but Canon M50 doesn't. Once you put a lens on M50, its thickness will increase significantly.
Here is the back view size comparison of the Canon G3 X and Canon M50.
Now lets look at the top view comparison of Canon G3 X and Canon M50.
Weight is another important factor, especially when deciding on a camera that you want to carry with you all day.
Canon M50 is significantly lighter (343g ) than the Canon G3 X which may become a big advantage especially on long walking trips.
Again, this comparison may not be very useful in real life as we are comparing the weight of a camera with a built-in lens to the body-only weight of an interchangeable lens camera. Once you put a lens on M50, the total kit will weigh much higher.
Weather Sealing
With its weather-sealed body, we believe that the G3 X has a big advantage over the M50 which doesn't provide any kind of environmental sealing.
LCD Screen Size and Features
Canon G3 X's 3.20" LCD screen is slightly larger than Canon M50's 3 screen.
