Size and weight are big decision factors when you are trying to find the ideal camera for your needs.
In this section, we are going to illustrate the Canon T8i and Sony RX100 IV side-by-side from the front, back and top in their relative dimensions. Canon T8i has external dimensions of 131 x 103 x 76 mm (5.16 x 4.00 x 2.99″) and weighs 515 g (1.14 lb / 18.17 oz) (including batteries). Sony RX100 IV has external dimensions of 102 x 58 x 41 mm (4.02 x 2.28 x 1.61″) and weighs 298 g (0.66 lb / 10.51 oz) (including batteries).
Below you can see the front-view size comparison of the Canon T8i and the Sony RX100 IV. Sony RX100 IV is clearly the smaller of the two cameras. Its body is 29mm narrower, 45mm shorter and 35mm thinner than Canon T8i. As you can tell, actually this is not a fair size comparison since Sony RX100 IV has a built-in lens but Canon T8i doesn't. Once you put a lens on T8i, its thickness will increase significantly.
Here is the back view size comparison of the Canon T8i and Sony RX100 IV.
Now lets look at the top view comparison of Canon T8i and Sony RX100 IV.
Weight is another important factor, especially when deciding on a camera that you want to carry with you all day.
Sony RX100 IV is significantly lighter (217g ) than the Canon T8i which may become a big advantage especially on long walking trips.
Again, this comparison may not be very useful in real life as we are comparing the weight of a camera with a built-in lens to the body-only weight of an interchangeable lens camera. Once you put a lens on T8i, the total kit will weigh much higher.
Weather Sealing
Unfortunately neither the Canon EOS Rebel T8i (EOS 850D / EOS Kiss X10i) nor Sony Cyber-shot DSC-RX100 IV provides any type of weather sealing in their bodies, so you have to give extra care especially when you are shooting outdoors. LCD Screen Size and Features
Canon T8i and Sony RX100 IV's LCD screens have the same diagonal size of 3.00 inches.
Sony RX100 IV features a
Tilting-only screen which is mostly only good for shooting from waist or over-the-head levels. On the other hand, Canon T8i sports a
Fully Articulated screen which is more flexible and useful, especially for taking selfies and video.
