Canon R5 has a
45.0MP Full frame (36 x 24 mm ) sized CMOS sensor and features Digic X processor. On the other hand, Konica Minolta 5D has a
6.0MP APS-C (23.5 x 15.7 mm ) sized CCD sensor .
Canon R5's sensor provides 39MP more than Konica Minolta 5D's sensor, which gives a significant advantage in real life. You can print your images larger or crop more freely.
On the other hand, please keep in mind that Max sensor resolution is not the only determinant of resolving power. Factors such as the optical elements, low pass filter, pixel size and sensor technology also affects the final resolution of the captured image.
Below you can see the R5 and 5D sensor size comparison.
As seen above, Canon R5 has a 2.3x Larger sensor area than Konica Minolta 5D. Larger sensors give photographer more control on the depth of field and blurry background compared to smaller sensor when shot in same focal length and aperture.
DxOMark Sensor Scores
Both Canon R5 and Konica Minolta 5D sensors have been tested by DxoMark. DxoMark scores camera sensors for color depth (DXO Portrait), dynamic range (DXO Landscape) and low-light sensitivity (DXO Sports), and also gives them an overall score. Of the two cameras that we are comparing, R5 has scored 95, 37 points higher than 5D.
