Post processing is a crucial part of the digital photography and many professionals are using graphic pen tablets to edit and retouch their photos more precisely. Huion Kamvas Pro 16-inch 2.5K is one of these tablets that was introduced to a world that was mostly dominated by Wacom tablets for a long time.
Huion is a China-based company that has been making pen displays since 2011 and they improve their products and closing the gap with Wacom products and in even exceeding in some areas while keeping them more affordable. Huion contacted as to learn if we are interested in reviewing one of their tablets and publish our honest review, and and we gladly accepted the offer.

You basically have everything to start using the tablet use as soon as you open the well organized box. Well, you still need a computer to plug as the Kamvas Pro is not a stand-alone tablet like iPads so requires a Windows, MacOS, Android or Linux based operating system.
Here is a list of included parts on the box:

The IPS LCD screen has a 2560 x 1440 QHD resolution with anti-glare etched glass, a 1200:1 contrast ratio and 14ms response time. The color gamut is 145% sRGB and the pen digitizer has 8192 levels of pressure sensitivity, 60 degree tilt sensitivity, 5080 LPI resolution, and 300PPS report rate with accuracy within around 1mm at the corners.
The surface of the Kamvas Pro 16 is etched glass which gives it a paper-like texture to draw on. This gives a more natural feeling compared to drawing on a smooth, glossy surface. The display on the Kamvas Pro 16 is laminated type so there's no gap between the glass and the LCD surface beneath. There's almost no parallax, the cursor is touching the pen nib, giving a more natural drawing experience. By comparison, the Wacom Cintiq 16 which is one of the biggest competition to this tablet lacks the laminated surface.
The Kamvas Pro 16 (2.5K) comes with a pen storage container with five standard nibs and five felt nibs. The standard plastic nibs deliver more smooth contact strokes whereas the felt nibs provides more textured feel to every stroke which is a bit more naturalistic feel almost like you were working on paper.
The pen has 2 customisable buttons which comes very hands to speed up your drawing/editing process:
External Dimensions and Weight
The Huion Kamvas Pro 16 (2.5K) pen display has external dimensions of 436 x 247 x 11.5mm in dimensions while the actual workspace(screen) is 349.6 x 196.7mm. As expected from an 16" tablet, it occupies a lot of space on your work desk. If you are short of space in your work environment, you can consider the 13" model which still would work as well in many scenarios.
Kamvas Pro is impressively lightweight at 1.28kg but this may not be very important to most as these displays are not designed to be used like mobile devices and also keep in mind that it has to be connected to at least one cable to operate so you can't move it around so easily.
Kamvas provides all kinds of cables that can potentially be used to plug your tablet into a powersource and a computer but since I prefer to keep things simple and my laptop ahs the support, I used the Kamvas with a single USB-C cable which provides both power and data without an issue at least in my setup.
It is also a nice touch to include an USB extension cable, gving a bit more flexibility in placing the tablet.
The included ST200 stand makes it really easy to place the Kamvas Pro in a comfortable position. There are 6 different possible angles which probably covers most people's requirements, you can also choose to lay it flat on the rubber feets of the stand.
The included stand is foldable and quite sturdy, it doesn't slip or move easily.
Setup and Customization
The included software provides extensive customisation and worked flawlessly on my Windows 10 laptop. Pressure sensitivity, shortcuts, working area are some of the main parameters that you will adjust.
The display work area and angle adjustments are possible with the software.
You can test and adjust the pressure sensitivity to your liking:
8 Shortcut buttons on the Kamvas Pro 16" helps you to speed up your editing or drawing process.
The Kamvas Pro 16 is compatible with Windows 7+, MacOS 10.12+, Android USB3.1 DP1.2 or later, and Linux (recently added).
