Size and weight are big decision factors when you are trying to find the ideal camera for your needs.
In this section, we are going to illustrate the Panasonic GX85 and Sony TX200V side-by-side from the front, back and top in their relative dimensions. Panasonic GX85 has external dimensions of 122 x 71 x 44 mm (4.8 x 2.8 x 1.73) and weighs 426 g (0.94 lb / 15.03 oz) (including batteries). Sony TX200V has external dimensions of 96 x 58 x 16 mm (3.78 x 2.28 x 0.63″) and weighs 129 g (0.28 lb / 4.55 oz) (including batteries).
Below you can see the front-view size comparison of the Panasonic GX85 and the Sony TX200V. Sony TX200V is clearly the smaller of the two cameras. Its body is 26mm narrower, 13mm shorter and 28mm thinner than Panasonic GX85. As you can tell, actually this is not a fair size comparison since Sony TX200V has a built-in lens but Panasonic GX85 doesn't. Once you put a lens on GX85, its thickness will increase significantly.
Here is the back view size comparison of the Panasonic GX85 and Sony TX200V.
Now lets look at the top view comparison of Panasonic GX85 and Sony TX200V.
Weight is another important factor, especially when deciding on a camera that you want to carry with you all day.
Sony TX200V is significantly lighter (297g ) than the Panasonic GX85 which may become a big advantage especially on long walking trips.
Again, this comparison may not be very useful in real life as we are comparing the weight of a camera with a built-in lens to the body-only weight of an interchangeable lens camera. Once you put a lens on GX85, the total kit will weigh much higher.
Weather Sealing
Thanks to the weather-sealed body of the TX200V, you can use this camera with more confidence under conditions where there is risk of exposure to water and dust compared to the GX85.
LCD Screen Size and Features
Sony TX200V's 3.30" LCD screen is slightly larger than Panasonic GX85's 3 screen.
On the other hand, Panasonic GX85 LCD screen has a
Tilting feature where you can change the angle of the screen to make it easier to shoot from waist or over-the-head levels. On the other hand, Sony TX200V has a fixed type screen which provides less flexibility in shooting positions compared to GX85.
