Size and weight are big decision factors when you are trying to find the ideal camera for your needs.
In this section, we are going to illustrate the Panasonic GX8 and Samsung Galaxy NX side-by-side from the front, back and top in their relative dimensions. Panasonic GX8 has external dimensions of 133 x 78 x 63 mm (5.24 x 3.07 x 2.48″) and weighs 487 g (1.07 lb / 17.18 oz) (including batteries). Samsung Galaxy NX has external dimensions of 137 x 101 x 26 mm (5.39 x 3.98 x 1.02″) and weighs 495 g (1.09 lb / 17.46 oz) (including batteries).
Below you can see the front-view size comparison of the Panasonic GX8 and the Samsung Galaxy NX. Panasonic GX8 is 4mm narrower and 23mm shorter than Samsung Galaxy NX but it is also 37mm thicker.
Here is the back view size comparison of the Panasonic GX8 and Samsung Galaxy NX.
Now lets look at the top view comparison of Panasonic GX8 and Samsung Galaxy NX.
Weight is another important factor, especially when deciding on a camera that you want to carry with you all day.
Panasonic GX8 is 8g lighter than the Samsung Galaxy NX but we don't think this will make a significant difference.
Also keep in mind that body weight is not the only deciding factor when comparing two interchangeable camera bodies, you also have to take into account the lenses that you will be using with these bodies. Since Samsung Galaxy NX has an APS-C sized sensor and Panasonic GX8 has a smaller Four Thirds sensor, Panasonic GX8's lenses for a similar focal length and aperture will generally be lighter and smaller than the Samsung Galaxy NX lenses.
Weather Sealing
With its weather-sealed body, we believe that the GX8 has a big advantage over the Galaxy NX which doesn't provide any kind of environmental sealing.
LCD Screen Size and Features
Samsung Galaxy NX's 4.80" LCD screen is slightly larger than Panasonic GX8's 3" screen.
On the other hand, Panasonic GX8 sports a
Fully Articulated screen which you can change the angle and position of the screen almost freely, making it possible to shoot from waist or over-the-head levels, and especially very useful for shooting selfies and video. On the other hand, Samsung Galaxy NX has a fixed type screen which provides almost no flexibility in shooting positions compared to GX8.
