Size and weight are big decision factors when you are trying to find the ideal camera for your needs.
In this section, we are going to illustrate the Panasonic GX8 and Olympus SP-620 UZ side-by-side from the front, back and top in their relative dimensions. Panasonic GX8 has external dimensions of 133 x 78 x 63 mm (5.24 x 3.07 x 2.48″) and weighs 487 g (1.07 lb / 17.18 oz) (including batteries). Olympus SP-620 UZ has external dimensions of 110 x 74 x 74 mm (4.33 x 2.91 x 2.91″) and weighs 435 g (including batteries).
Below you can see the front-view size comparison of the Panasonic GX8 and the Olympus SP-620 UZ. Olympus SP-620 UZ is 23mm narrower and 4mm shorter than Panasonic GX8 but it is also 11mm thicker. As you can tell, actually this is not a fair size comparison since Olympus SP-620 UZ has a built-in lens but Panasonic GX8 doesn't. Once you put a lens on GX8, its thickness will increase significantly.
Here is the back view size comparison of the Panasonic GX8 and Olympus SP-620 UZ.
Now lets look at the top view comparison of Panasonic GX8 and Olympus SP-620 UZ.
Weight is another important factor, especially when deciding on a camera that you want to carry with you all day.
Olympus SP-620 UZ is 52g lighter than the Panasonic GX8 but we don't think this will make a significant difference.
Again, this comparison may not be very useful in real life as we are comparing the weight of a camera with a built-in lens to the body-only weight of an interchangeable lens camera. Once you put a lens on GX8, the total kit will weigh much higher.
Weather Sealing
With its weather-sealed body, we believe that the GX8 has a big advantage over the SP-620 UZ which doesn't provide any kind of environmental sealing.
LCD Screen Size and Features
Panasonic GX8 and Olympus SP-620 UZ's LCD screens have the same diagonal size of 3.00 inches.
On the other hand, Panasonic GX8 sports a
Fully Articulated screen which you can change the angle and position of the screen almost freely, making it possible to shoot from waist or over-the-head levels, and especially very useful for shooting selfies and video. Olympus SP-620 UZ's LCD screen is a fixed type which provides almost no flexibility in shooting positions compared to GX8.
