Size and weight are big decision factors when you are trying to find the ideal camera for your needs.
In this section, we are going to illustrate the Panasonic FZ70 and Panasonic G7 side-by-side from the front, back and top in their relative dimensions. Panasonic FZ70 has external dimensions of 130 x 97 x 118 mm (5.12 x 3.82 x 4.65″) and weighs 606 g (1.34 lb / 21.38 oz) (including batteries). Panasonic G7 has external dimensions of 125 x 86 x 77 mm (4.92 x 3.39 x 3.03″) and weighs 410 g (0.90 lb / 14.46 oz) (including batteries).
Below you can see the front-view size comparison of the Panasonic FZ70 and the Panasonic G7. Panasonic G7 is clearly the smaller of the two cameras. Its body is 5mm narrower, 11mm shorter and 41mm thinner than Panasonic FZ70. As you can tell, actually this is not a fair size comparison since Panasonic FZ70 has a built-in lens but Panasonic G7 doesn't. Once you put a lens on G7, its thickness will increase significantly.
Here is the back view size comparison of the Panasonic FZ70 and Panasonic G7.
Now lets look at the top view comparison of Panasonic FZ70 and Panasonic G7.
Weight is another important factor, especially when deciding on a camera that you want to carry with you all day.
Panasonic G7 is significantly lighter (196g ) than the Panasonic FZ70 which may become a big advantage especially on long walking trips.
Again, this comparison may not be very useful in real life as we are comparing the weight of a camera with a built-in lens to the body-only weight of an interchangeable lens camera. Once you put a lens on G7, the total kit will weigh much higher.
Weather Sealing
Unfortunately neither the Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ70 nor Panasonic Lumix DMC-G7 provides any type of weather sealing in their bodies, so you have to give extra care especially when you are shooting outdoors. LCD Screen Size and Features
Panasonic FZ70 and Panasonic G7's LCD screens have the same diagonal size of 3.00 inches.
On the other hand, Panasonic G7 sports a
Fully Articulated screen which you can change the angle and position of the screen almost freely, making it possible to shoot from waist or over-the-head levels, and especially very useful for shooting selfies and video. Panasonic FZ70's LCD screen is a fixed type which provides almost no flexibility in shooting positions compared to G7.
