Size and weight are big decision factors when you are trying to find the ideal camera for your needs.
In this section, we are going to illustrate the Panasonic FZ300 and Fujifilm X-E1 side-by-side from the front, back and top in their relative dimensions. Panasonic FZ300 has external dimensions of 132 x 92 x 117 mm (5.2 x 3.62 x 4.61″) and weighs 691 g (including batteries). Fujifilm X-E1 has external dimensions of 129 x 75 x 38 mm (5.08 x 2.95 x 1.5″) and weighs 350 g (0.77 lb / 12.35 oz) (including batteries).
Below you can see the front-view size comparison of the Panasonic FZ300 and the Fujifilm X-E1. Fujifilm X-E1 is clearly the smaller of the two cameras. Its body is 3mm narrower, 17mm shorter and 79mm thinner than Panasonic FZ300. As you can tell, actually this is not a fair size comparison since Panasonic FZ300 has a built-in lens but Fujifilm X-E1 doesn't. Once you put a lens on X-E1, its thickness will increase significantly.
Here is the back view size comparison of the Panasonic FZ300 and Fujifilm X-E1.
Now lets look at the top view comparison of Panasonic FZ300 and Fujifilm X-E1.
Weight is another important factor, especially when deciding on a camera that you want to carry with you all day.
Fujifilm X-E1 is significantly lighter (341g ) than the Panasonic FZ300 which may become a big advantage especially on long walking trips.
Again, this comparison may not be very useful in real life as we are comparing the weight of a camera with a built-in lens to the body-only weight of an interchangeable lens camera. Once you put a lens on X-E1, the total kit will weigh much higher.
Weather Sealing
With its weather-sealed body, we believe that the FZ300 has a big advantage over the X-E1 which doesn't provide any kind of environmental sealing.
LCD Screen Size and Features
Panasonic FZ300's 3.00" LCD screen is slightly larger than Fujifilm X-E1's 2.8" screen.
Moreover, Panasonic FZ300 sports a
Fully Articulated screen which you can change the angle and position of the screen almost freely, making it possible to shoot from waist or over-the-head levels, and especially very useful for shooting selfies and video. On the other hand, Fujifilm X-E1 has a fixed type screen which provides almost no flexibility in shooting positions compared to FZ300.
