Size and weight are big decision factors when you are trying to find the ideal camera for your needs.
In this section, we are going to illustrate the Fujifilm X30 and Sony A300 side-by-side from the front, back and top in their relative dimensions. Fujifilm X30 has external dimensions of 119 x 72 x 60 mm (4.69 x 2.83 x 2.36″) and weighs 423 g (0.93 lb / 14.92 oz) (including batteries). Sony A300 has external dimensions of 131 x 99 x 75 mm (5.16 x 3.9 x 2.95″) and weighs 632 g (1.39 lb / 22.29 oz) (including batteries).
Below you can see the front-view size comparison of the Fujifilm X30 and the Sony A300. Fujifilm X30 is clearly the smaller of the two cameras. Its body is 12mm narrower, 27mm shorter and 15mm thinner than Sony A300. As you can tell, actually this is not a fair size comparison since Fujifilm X30 has a built-in lens but Sony A300 doesn't. Once you put a lens on A300, its thickness will increase significantly.
Here is the back view size comparison of the Fujifilm X30 and Sony A300.
Weight is another important factor, especially when deciding on a camera that you want to carry with you all day.
Fujifilm X30 is significantly lighter (209g ) than the Sony A300 which may become a big advantage especially on long walking trips.
Again, this comparison may not be very useful in real life as we are comparing the weight of a camera with a built-in lens to the body-only weight of an interchangeable lens camera. Once you put a lens on A300, the total kit will weigh much higher.
Weather Sealing
Unfortunately neither the Fujifilm X30 nor Sony Alpha DSLR-A300 provides any type of weather sealing in their bodies, so you have to give extra care especially when you are shooting outdoors. LCD Screen Size and Features
Fujifilm X30's 3.00" LCD screen is slightly larger than Sony A300's 2.7" screen.
Both cameras feature
Tilting screens where you can change the angle of the screen to make it easier to shoot from waist or over-the-head levels.
