Size and weight are big decision factors when you are trying to find the ideal camera for your needs.
In this section, we are going to illustrate the Canon G9 X II and Panasonic G7 side-by-side from the front, back and top in their relative dimensions. Canon G9 X II has external dimensions of 98 x 58 x 31 mm (3.86 x 2.28 x 1.22″) and weighs 206 g (0.45 lb / 7.27 oz) (including batteries). Panasonic G7 has external dimensions of 125 x 86 x 77 mm (4.92 x 3.39 x 3.03″) and weighs 410 g (0.90 lb / 14.46 oz) (including batteries).
Below you can see the front-view size comparison of the Canon G9 X II and the Panasonic G7. Canon G9 X II is clearly the smaller of the two cameras. Its body is 27mm narrower, 28mm shorter and 46mm thinner than Panasonic G7. As you can tell, actually this is not a fair size comparison since Canon G9 X II has a built-in lens but Panasonic G7 doesn't. Once you put a lens on G7, its thickness will increase significantly.
Here is the back view size comparison of the Canon G9 X II and Panasonic G7.
Now lets look at the top view comparison of Canon G9 X II and Panasonic G7.
Weight is another important factor, especially when deciding on a camera that you want to carry with you all day.
Canon G9 X II is significantly lighter (204g ) than the Panasonic G7 which may become a big advantage especially on long walking trips.
Again, this comparison may not be very useful in real life as we are comparing the weight of a camera with a built-in lens to the body-only weight of an interchangeable lens camera. Once you put a lens on G7, the total kit will weigh much higher.
Weather Sealing
Unfortunately neither the Canon PowerShot G9 X Mark II nor Panasonic Lumix DMC-G7 provides any type of weather sealing in their bodies, so you have to give extra care especially when you are shooting outdoors. LCD Screen Size and Features
Canon G9 X II and Panasonic G7's LCD screens have the same diagonal size of 3.00 inches.
On the other hand, Panasonic G7 sports a
Fully Articulated screen which you can change the angle and position of the screen almost freely, making it possible to shoot from waist or over-the-head levels, and especially very useful for shooting selfies and video. Canon G9 X II's LCD screen is a fixed type which provides almost no flexibility in shooting positions compared to G7.
