Size and weight are big decision factors when you are trying to find the ideal camera for your needs.
In this section, we are going to illustrate the Canon M5 and Leica TL2 side-by-side from the front, back and top in their relative dimensions. Canon M5 has external dimensions of 116 x 89 x 61 mm (4.57 x 3.5 x 2.4″) and weighs 427 g (0.94 lb / 15.06 oz) (including batteries). Leica TL2 has external dimensions of 134 x 69 x 33 mm (5.28 x 2.72 x 1.3″) and weighs 399 g (0.88 lb / 14.07 oz) (including batteries).
Below you can see the front-view size comparison of the Canon M5 and the Leica TL2. Leica TL2 is 20mm shorter and 28mm thinner than Canon M5 but it is also 18mm wider.
Here is the back view size comparison of the Canon M5 and Leica TL2.
Now lets look at the top view comparison of Canon M5 and Leica TL2.
Weight is another important factor, especially when deciding on a camera that you want to carry with you all day.
Leica TL2 is 28g lighter than the Canon M5 but we don't think this will make a significant difference.
Also keep in mind that body weight is not the only deciding factor when comparing two interchangeable camera bodies, you also have to take into account the lenses that you will be using with these bodies. Since both Canon M5 and Leica TL2 have the same APS-C sized sensor, their lenses for a similar focal length and aperture will be similar in size and weight.
Weather Sealing
Unfortunately neither the Canon EOS M5 nor Leica TL2 provides any type of weather sealing in their bodies, so you have to give extra care especially when you are shooting outdoors. If weather sealing is a must-have feature for you, check these sections: Top Mirrorless Cameras with Weather Sealing
LCD Screen Size and Features
Leica TL2's 3.70" LCD screen is slightly larger than Canon M5's 3.2" screen.
On the other hand, Canon M5 LCD screen has a
Tilting feature where you can change the angle of the screen to make it easier to shoot from waist or over-the-head levels. On the other hand, Leica TL2 has a fixed type screen which provides less flexibility in shooting positions compared to M5.
