Size and weight are big decision factors when you are trying to find the ideal camera for your needs.
In this section, we are going to illustrate the Canon 70D and Nikon S800c side-by-side from the front, back and top in their relative dimensions. Canon 70D has external dimensions of 139 x 104 x 79 mm (5.47 x 4.11 x 3.09″) and weighs 755 g (1.66 lb / 26.63 oz) (including batteries). Nikon S800c has external dimensions of 111 x 60 x 27 mm (4.37 x 2.36 x 1.06″) and weighs 184 g (0.41 lb / 6.49 oz) (including batteries).
Below you can see the front-view size comparison of the Canon 70D and the Nikon S800c. Nikon S800c is clearly the smaller of the two cameras. Its body is 28mm narrower, 44mm shorter and 52mm thinner than Canon 70D. As you can tell, actually this is not a fair size comparison since Nikon S800c has a built-in lens but Canon 70D doesn't. Once you put a lens on 70D, its thickness will increase significantly.
Here is the back view size comparison of the Canon 70D and Nikon S800c.
Now lets look at the top view comparison of Canon 70D and Nikon S800c.
Weight is another important factor, especially when deciding on a camera that you want to carry with you all day.
Nikon S800c is significantly lighter (571g ) than the Canon 70D which may become a big advantage especially on long walking trips.
Again, this comparison may not be very useful in real life as we are comparing the weight of a camera with a built-in lens to the body-only weight of an interchangeable lens camera. Once you put a lens on 70D, the total kit will weigh much higher.
Weather Sealing
With its weather-sealed body, we believe that the 70D has a big advantage over the S800c which doesn't provide any kind of environmental sealing.
LCD Screen Size and Features
Nikon S800c's 3.50" LCD screen is slightly larger than Canon 70D's 3" screen.
On the other hand, Canon 70D sports a
Fully Articulated screen which you can change the angle and position of the screen almost freely, making it possible to shoot from waist or over-the-head levels, and especially very useful for shooting selfies and video. On the other hand, Nikon S800c has a fixed type screen which provides almost no flexibility in shooting positions compared to 70D.
